Senator Christopher “Bong” Go led the ribbon-cutting and turnover ceremony of a newly constructed footbridge in Barangay Malandag, Malungon, Sarangani, on 26 December.

Funded through Go’s efforts as vice chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, the project marks a major step toward enhancing connectivity and accessibility for local residents.

The ceremony was attended by Congressman Steve Chiongbian Solon, Governor Rogelio Pacquiao, Mayor Atty. Maria Theresa Constantino, Vice Mayor Mariano Escalada Jr., Barangay Captain Helen Aradanas, and Municipal Engineer Mark Anthony Zagales.

“This project would not have been possible without the support of our local government partners and their dedication to the people of Barangay Malandag,” said Go.

Mayor Constantino expressed gratitude for Senator Go’s hands-on approach, highlighting his support for critical local projects. “Despite his busy schedule, he made time for this event, and we are thankful for his unwavering commitment to helping our community,” the mayor said.

The footbridge, designed to provide safe passage for residents, particularly during hazardous weather, is expected to benefit students, farmers, and other locals who rely on crossing the river daily.

“This footbridge is for all the residents here. It will provide safer pathways, especially for students and farmers bringing their products to town,” Go remarked.

The footbridge is part of Senator Go’s broader initiatives to improve infrastructure, healthcare, and public facilities across Sarangani Province.

In Alabel, road rehabilitation and concreting projects, including the Bypass Road to Barangay Bagacay and the Poblacion-Alegria-Boundary Malungon Provincial Road, have enhanced mobility. Similarly, in Glan, Go supported the concreting of provincial roads such as NHW Junction Ilaya-Datalbukay-Lanaokapanglao.

In Kiamba, Maitum, Maasim, and Malapatan, roads connecting key barangays have been upgraded to facilitate smoother transportation and economic growth. Projects in Malungon, including pedestrian walkways and improved provincial roads, reflect Go’s commitment to fostering progress in rural areas.

Public facilities have also seen upgrades under Go’s initiatives. LED streetlights now illuminate major roads in Alabel and Glan, ensuring safety at night. Disaster preparedness efforts include an evacuation center in Glan, while transport terminals in Maasim and Maitum have improved commuting conditions.
