Actor Enrique Gil describes 2024 as a productive year, marked by his work on various films, including I’m Not Big Bird, which he co-produced, and the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital.
Gil shared his excitement about exploring different genres, calling it a "smart move" as an actor.
"It feels good to be working on projects that excite me and inspire me. You reach a point that you really wanna be a smart actor; I just do it for fun and the love of the craft, so I'm at a point where I just wanna enjoy and have fun,” he told the press in a mix of English and Filipino during the media premiere of his MMFF movie.
The actor said this decision reignited his passion for acting.
"It is something new and something [that] excites me... you have to look for something that excites you at some point, you know, to ignite that fire in you," he said.
In addition to tackling diverse film genres, Gil also ventured into producing.
"I commend them (film outfits) for pushing me to try different genres and better films, and I’m just really proud of them. It inspires me to produce and make more projects that push the boundaries in the Philippine cinema that we love," he explained.
Looking ahead to 2025, Gil revealed plans for new projects, including a collaboration with ABS-CBN.
"Yes, I have a show coming up with ABS-CBN next year; I’m co-producing it with them, and I also have some films we’re working on," he said.
