The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Tuesday said it intensified police visibility and patrol operations to ensure the safety and security of churchgoers attending the traditional Simbang Gabi, which began on 16 December.
As of 5 a.m. on Tuesday, the NCRPO secured 308 places of worship across Metro Manila, reporting zero significant incidents during the celebration.
To maintain peace and order, a total of 1,931 police officers were deployed across the five police districts and support units.
On the second night of Simbang Gabi alone, an estimated 92,054 worshippers attended church services, with significant turnout recorded in Quezon City, Manila and other districts. Additional personnel from the NCRPO’s Regional Mobile Force Battalion augmented security efforts.
NCRPO personnel implemented visible and strategic deployment near churches, chapels and surrounding area, adhering to the principles of NCRPO acting regional director P/Brig. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin.
