DAVAO CITY — Pilipinas Sambo plans to have more training programs and probably will hold a national tournament here in Mindanao this 2025.
This was bared by Pilipinas Sambo President Paolo Tancontian who was in town to conduct a five-day training activity at the Jose P. Rizal Elementary School.
“We have a positive response from our participants here in Davao City. With that we plan to hold other training programs in other cities Mati, General Santos and Cagayan de Oro by next year. And probably we can hold a national tournament in Samal. This is part of Pilipinas Sambo’s promotion and grassroots development program as supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, Tancontian said.
Some 80 participants took part in the five-day tournament which wraps up today, 15 December, led by Pilipinas Sambo national coach Ace Larida along with national team mainstay Sydney Tancontian.
“With this training program it can unlock potential talents who can probably join the national team,” he added.
