The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Friday issued a strong warning to its stakeholders and the general public against individuals who pretend to be agency representatives.
This comes after the CAAP management was about unscrupulous individuals engaging in fraudulent solicitation activities while posing as CAAP representatives.
According to reports, individuals claiming to be CAAP staff have contacted winning bidders, requesting contributions.
CAAP stressed that its officials and staff have never and will never solicit money or any goods from private sectors or companies and such actions are not approved by the agency and are categorically prohibited.
Furthermore, CAAP denies any affiliation with a person named Sonnel Mantuano Malantic, who falsely claims an association with the agency regarding a pending prosecution under Article 318 of the Revised Penal Code, or RA 8484 (Access Devices Regulation Act).
Such assertions are unfounded and contradict the agency’s commitment to ethical standards and defending the public interest.
In order to maintain accountability, CAAP encourages immediate reporting of any attempts to jeopardize the agency’s reputation.
By receiving such information, CAAP will be able to work with the relevant authorities and bring criminal charges against those responsible individuals.
CAAP is steadfast in its commitment to transparency, integrity, and protecting its stakeholders and the agency encourages everyone to remain watchful and to support efforts in this area in order to preserve the confidence of public institutions.
