President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday directed the Philippine National Police (PNP) to strengthen its child protection and cybercrime prevention efforts through advanced training for police personnel.

Marcos issued the directive during a command conference with top police officials at the PNP Multi-Purpose Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

During the conference, Marcos emphasized the need for the PNP to remain “proactive and vigilant” in addressing emerging challenges in the country.

Recognizing the growing threats in the digital landscape, the President underscored the importance of equipping the PNP with the necessary skills and tools to effectively combat cybercrime.

He stressed that “no crime is worse than the exploitation of children,” urging the police force to intensify efforts to protect the youth from all forms of abuse and exploitation. This, he said, aligns with his administration’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable sectors of society.

Additionally, Marcos directed the PNP to ensure peace and order, particularly focusing on the safety of travelers, minimizing traffic congestion, and facilitating smooth public activities during the holiday season. He highlighted the importance of maintaining heightened vigilance during this busy period.

Marcos also called for sustained coordination with other government agencies to enhance the effectiveness of anti-drug operations. He reiterated the need for a comprehensive and unified approach to address the persistent issue.

PNP chief General Francisco Rommel Marbil assured Marcos of the police force’s dedication to fulfilling his directives.

“We assure President Marcos of our full support as we implement these priorities to strengthen peace and security across the nation,” Marbil said.

He noted that the command conference underscores the PNP’s commitment to upholding its mandate and aligning its operations with the priorities set by the national leadership, contributing to the vision of a Bagong Pilipinas.
