Disappearing act
Missing persons are not just a statistic or a headline - they represent real lives, real families, and real pain

Each day, the haunting and overwhelming activity on social media pages dedicated to missing persons, including children and teenagers, speaks volumes of the deep sorrow experienced by worried families and friends.
It's thought-consuming, but unfortunately, it's a reality for many families without answers or justice.
The question arises - do we need a high-profile case involving a wealthy heir for us to take action and demand change?
Missing persons are not just a statistic or a headline - they represent real lives, real families, and real pain. The disappearance of a person should not be measured by their family's wealth or social status but by the simple fact that a human being is missing and in need of help.
The absolute pleas on social media from parents and siblings for their missing family members, including young children as little as three years old, are undoubtedly devastating.
Every time we scroll through our social media feeds, we come across posts seeking information about missing family members. Some have been missing for months, while others have been tragically found lifeless in the most desolate of places or floating in the waters.
Each post is like a stab to the heart, leaving us wondering how much longer these families will have to endure this unbearable anguish.
Are the authorities truly stepping up to solve these cases? Are they putting forth every possible effort to reunite these missing souls with their families? The idea of living in limbo, clinging to hope for any news about a cherished one, is beyond comprehension.
Have they been targeted by criminal elements, raped, exploited for prostitution, forced into illegal labor, or even trafficked for organ harvesting for huge profits?
Each missing person represents a piece of someone's heart - a child, a sibling, a parent, a friend - leaving an irreplaceable void. They deserve to be searched for, to be cared for, and to be found. It should not take a high-profile case to spark outrage and demand action from the government. The fact that some cases receive more attention and resources than others based on social status speaks of inequalities and injustice.
Regardless of background or family wealth, every person matters. It is a collective responsibility to ensure that no one is left behind and that every missing person receives the attention and resources they deserve.
Their narratives should not fade away or be reduced to mere numbers. If unlucky enough, they are intentionally excluded from police records.
Until each missing individual is brought to light, we must persist in advocating for justice for them and their families and bring them back home where they belong.
By bringing hope to those waiting for their loved ones to come home, we prioritize their safety and well-being so that no family will be made to suffer in silence.
In the words of Austrian doctor Alfred Adler, "Empathy is seeing with the eyes of another, listening with the ears of another, and feeling with the heart of another."
As a community, let us never underestimate the power of empathy to bridge divides and heal wounds by seeing beyond ourselves, truly listening, and wholeheartedly feeling the experiences of others.
