Angkas, the country’s largest motorcycle taxi group, and the AngKasangga Partylist on Monday led a public consultation to address concerns of riders and motorcycle taxi operations nationwide.
The consultation, held at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) main office, was attended by hundreds of riders, leaders of rider groups, and motorcycle taxi operators from across the country.
“This consultation is just the beginning as we call for a continued nationwide holding of this kind of event,” said Angkas CEO and AngKasangga nominee George Royeca.
Royeca said the group is committed to working with government agencies like the LTO, Department of Transportation, and others to improve the motorcycle taxi industry and ensure a safer and more efficient transportation system.
Once elected to Congress, AngKasangga aims to advocate for the rights and welfare of motorcycle riders nationwide, including those in the rural areas. The partylist will also push for government benefits for riders, similar to those of regular employees.
“We will bring government services down to the people in the provinces to discuss burning issues affecting all concerned sectors, especially the riders,” Royeca said.
AngKasangga will also advocate for mandatory insurance coverage for both riders and passengers to enhance safety and security.
