The House of Representatives Quad Committee’s investigations into Vice President Sara Duterte’s confidential fund and the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) are nearing their conclusion.
This was revealed by Manila Rep. Bienvenido Abante to Manila City Hall reporters on Thursday.
Abante said 12 hearings had been held by the Quadcomm and a decision is expected soon on what recommendations to make and what laws may be passed.
The POGO investigation aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s order banning all such enterprises from the Philippines by yearend.
However, Abante said the investigation into the drug war waged by the previous administration, as well as the alleged extrajudicial killings that attended it, would continue.
As for the investigation into the Office of the Vice President’s utilization of confidential funds, Abante said the Quadcomm continues to receive new information.
Vice President Duterte has decried the House hearings on her office’s use of confidential funds, including that of the Department of Education that she headed as secretary, as mere political persecution.
Duterte last Saturday claimed to have contracted an assassin to take out the President, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and House Speaker Martin Romualdez in the event she herself was killed.
