World Autism Day, celebrated annually on 2 April, not only promotes awareness and advocacy but also showcases the talents and creativity of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

In addition to organizing awareness campaigns and educational initiatives, organizations worldwide are hosting art exhibits to showcase the unique perspectives and skills of individuals with ASD.

These exhibits provide platforms for artists and designers with autism to showcase their work, promoting inclusivity, and challenging stereotypes.

One such organization, the Autism Hearts Foundation, will once again present its Fashion Arts Autism Benefits (FAAB) artists at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York on 4 April 2024.

Not only will their artwork be on display, but their voices will also resonate as ambassadors for the autism community of the Philippines. They will speak at the Call for Action Forum addressing the WHO-UNICEF Global Report on developmental disabilities and disorders in front of UN ambassadors and world leaders in attendance.

According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), autism encompasses various developmental conditions characterized by difficulties in communication, delays in cognitive function, and challenges with social interactions. Individuals with autism may also struggle with adapting to change and tend to repeat certain behaviors.

The Autism Hearts Foundation's FAAB project gives hope to individuals with autism, helping them in overcoming challenges through self-expression, life skill development, and participation in creative arts activities.
