The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association Inc., the leading organization of housing and real estate developers in the Philippines, welcomed the recent appointment of Frederick Go, CEO of Robinsons Land Corporation, as head of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs.
SHDA chairperson Arlene Keh said that the organization, which has long been partnering with the government in addressing the country's housing need and promoting a vibrant housing industry, supported the appointment of Go as head of OSAPIEA.
The housing industry has been an economic pump-priming sector with its high impact on employment and valuable multiplier effect on the economy. The appointment of Go – with his character, education, experience and achievements – will bode well for the housing industry key stakeholders, the business community and the entire economic sector, said Keh.
For his part, SHDA president Arch. Leonardo Dayao said the appointment of Mr. Go as head of the OSAPIEA and the Economic Development Group, and his supervisory command of the Department of Finance, the National Economic Development Authority and the Department of Trade and Industry, will be highly instrumental in helping and strengthening further the government's efforts to formulate, advocate and push for critical policy reforms that will address the challenges raised by the SHDA in housing production and the overall economic concerns that beset the country.
SHDA Vice President Atty. Joy Manaog added that Go possesses integrity and high moral value, and is a hardworking and experienced executive who is aware of the choke points and challenges in the economy.
Manaog said Go will be able to synchronize economic policies and programs, and also facilitate and enhance a stronger partnership between the government and the private sector participants in the overall growth and development of the economy.
SHDA has committed to work with Go and the OSAPIEA toward the resolution of urgent housing and economic concerns, to help the government achieve welfare and productivity and overall economic development.
