ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Maguindanao del Sur Provincial Police disclosed on Tuesday that evacuation of residents living in a remote village in Ampatuan town in Maguindanao was reported after two Moro Islamic Liberation Front rival groups clashed on Christmas Day which left four MILF combatants dead.
Maguindanao del Sur Provincial Police director Col. Roel Sermese narrated that the incident took place in Barangay Kapinpilan, Ampatuan town on Monday, and the skirmishes had sent most residents of the village leaving their homes to avoid being caught in a crossfire between the two warring MILF groups.
Sermese identified the two MILF warring groups as Hamza Kindo and Kadafy Bundula in Barangay Kapinpilan in Ampatuan.
Meantime, the fatalities were identified as Norman Sabpa, Abie Kadil, Joharie Akan and Darex Bundula, while the wounded were identified as Misuari Guiamal, who was immediately brought to a nearby hospital for medical aid.
The Pikit Municipal Police Station also reported that two MILF rival factions in Pikit, Cotabato clashed on Saturday and the bloody exchange of gunfire has killed Sindato Karim, chairman of Barangay Lagunde in Pikit town.
Four of their opponents, led by another MILF leader Basit Nando, died during the scuffle.
Pikit Police said that the group of Karim was at the area of Sitio Edzap, Barangay Lagunde undergoing road maintenance when the group of Sabaya fired at them that resulted to a gun fight.
The Philippine National Police, along with the 90th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army is now conducting hot pursuit operations against the perpetrators while the case is under investigation.
