SM turns over renovated health center benefitting 26 barangays in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY — The SM Foundation formally turned over a newly renovated Lucban Health Center to the Baguio City Government on the afternoon of 18 December 2023.

The turnover ceremony was held at T. Alonzo St. New Lucban. The event was led by officials of SM Baguio Foundation and the facility was accepted by Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong and the officials and staff of the Baguio City Health Services Office (HSO).

According to HSO chief Celia Flor Brillantes, the rehabilitation of Lucban Health Center started on 18 November 2023. She said SM extended its help to complete the said rehabilitation.

Because of the completed rehabilitation of the medical facility, it is expected that it will serve 26 barangays in Baguio City and an estimated 36,163 individuals.

SM Supermalls regional operations manager Rona Vida Correa said SM continues to coordinate and cooperate with the City Government of Baguio in helping the community of New Lucban and neighboring barangays. She said this is to improve health services to serve more people.

The Lucban Health Center is the 201st health center in the entire country rehabilitated by the SM Foundation. This was disclosed by SM Foundation Executive Director for Health and Medical Programs Connie Angeles. She vowed that SM will continue its help in maintaining Lucban Health Center.

Among the services the said medical facility offers to the people of Baguio are general consultation, prenatal check-ups, child immunization, directly observed therapy for tuberculosis (TB-DOTS), and family planning consultations.
