Grand dame Nene Leonor honors her beloved Jun on his 90th 

Of the parties this Christmas season, one that was well attended by the right crowd was the birthday bash hosted by our dear grand dame, Nene Leonor, in honor of her better half, Jun, who turned 90.

Society figure Nene Leonor graciously hosted a splendid birthday celebration for her husband, legal luminary Jun Leonor, who marked his 90th year. The festive affair took place under white tents adorned with hundreds of fairy lights in their expansive garden on Taft Avenue, once an enclave of old rich families during the prewar and postwar years.

Despite the present commercialization of the area with burgeoning high-rises, the Leonor compound retains its charm, leaving the ancestral and vast garden as a sentimental haven for Nene and Jun.

Known for orchestrating fabulous parties, Nene outdid herself with a lavish spread featuring 12 delectable dishes. Among the main courses were roast beef, roast turkey, callos, baked salmon and an assortment of Italian pasta and lechon, complemented by a delightful array of several homemade desserts including Nene's famous frozen fruit salad and lychee coconut pandan aspic.

This particular evening took an unusual turn compared to past gatherings. While Nene's residence typically teems with guests, the presence of five major Christmas parties in Metro Manila resulted in a flow of guests coming and going. Nevertheless, over a hundred attendees made their way to greet Jun Leonor.

Notably, friends and classmates of Jun, gathered at a prominent table, took a moment to join in celebrating his remarkable 90th birthday. The live band added to the festive atmosphere, enchanting guests who eagerly joined in singing, while others danced the night away.
