More Thais love the Philippines

The Philippines can expect more tourist arrivals from Thailand, deeply enamored by the enticing "Love" campaign and its portrayal of the country's natural wonders.

"Particularly those beach and diving lovers; (they) will be traveling to the Philippines," said Thai ambassador Tull Traisorat. "I would like to congratulate the Philippines for being 'Asia's Leading Dive Destination' for the 5th consecutive year and on being elected as vice president of the 25th General Assembly of the UN World Tourism Organization (represented by Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco)."

Frasco joined government leaders in the grand reception dinner hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy to celebrate the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand on 5 December in Manila, recognizing the 74-year-old relationship between Thailand and the Philippines.

The event also commemorated the birthday anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and Thailand's Father's Day, both celebrated on the date.

"More direct flights between famous tourist cities of both countries will contribute to the success of '2 countries, 1 destination' concept, which Thailand and the Philippines have been promoting. This concept also aims to attract tourists from third countries who visit Thailand or the Philippines to continue to visit the other country, in particular those who love diving," Traisorat said.

"Our peoples have been closely connected. It is clear to me the cordial relations and love between our countries, where our peoples serve as the firm foundation of our cooperation," he added.

The number of Filipino tourists traveling to Thailand has been consistently high, while the number of Thai tourists coming to the Philippines has doubled from the pre-Covid level.

DoT has been lobbying for more direct flights, particularly from Thailand and France.

The Philippines recently swept four major accolades at the World Travel Awards 2023 in Dubai, reinforcing its position as an unparalleled destination.

"(We invite travelers) to explore our captivating shores, vibrant underwater realms and dynamic urban landscapes as they immerse in our culture and heritage and create unforgettable memories with the distinct grace and hospitality of the Filipino people," Frasco said.
