President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday challenged new lawyers to uphold integrity and remain true to the ideals of the legal profession as they embark on their unique paths in law.
In a message to the new lawyers posted on X (formerly Twitter), Marcos Jr. reminded them of the crucial role they play in upholding the rule of law and ensuring that every Filipino has access to a fair and equitable justice system.
"As you begin your unique paths, stand firm in upholding integrity and remain true to the reasons that called you to practice law," he said.
Marcos Jr. also urged the new lawyers to remain united in their commitment to justice and to use their legal knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on society.
"Remember that the law is not just about winning cases or making money. It is about upholding the values of justice, fairness, and equality," he said.
"I encourage you to use your legal skills to make a difference in the lives of others and to help build a more just and equitable society for all Filipinos."
The President's message comes as the Supreme Court of the Philippines recently released the results of the 2023 Bar Examinations.
A total of 3,812 out of 10,387 examinees passed the 2023 Bar examination, with a passing rate of 36.77 percent, the Supreme Court (SC) announced Tuesday.
The oath-taking and roll signing of bar passers will happen on 22 December at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City.
