Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. said China's shadowing actions in the South China Sea targets not only Philippine boats but also those of other countries.
"They have been doing this shadowing for a long time. It's not just our ships but even the other ships in the area. They shadowed the boats of Malaysia, of Vietnam, and of the other ships within the area. This goes with their narrative—that they own the South China Sea as bounded by the 10-dash line," Brawner told reporters in a press conference.
China's latest shadowing was logged during the recently concluded Philippines-United States maritime air patrols in the WPS.
China on Wednesday warned both countries that their joint naval patrol allegedly near Chinese territorial waters should not harm Beijing's sovereignty and maritime interests.
It accused both countries of having "no sincerity" in easing tensions in the South China Sea.
