
Pushing and shoving between police and rallyists marked the US Embassy protest that almost turned into a clash Tuesday morning along Roxas Boulevard in Manila.
The rally, which started at 10:30 a.m., was led by Bayan Muna leader Renato Reyes and a group of young students who attempted to get near the US Embassy.
Police estimated the crowd at 400, mostly members of the militant group Pamalakaya, Gabriela, Kilusang Mayo Uno, Karapatan, Sandugo, Anakbayan, HEAD, ILPS, Bahaghari, Katribu Youth, Arpak at Bayan Muna.
The rallyists condemned the US involvement in the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
The said protest rally, however was condemned by netizens on social media, saying that the group should hold their rally in Israel not in the Philippines. "Not a proper move (wala sa hulag)."
Among the demands by protesters were "Stop the US-Israel Genocide of Palestinians!, End the Occupations!, Free Palestine ,Fight US Imperialist, End Israeli Occupation, and No to Imperialist War".
The rallyists ended their march and left the place at 11 a.m. The incident halted traffic for sometime along Roxas Boulevard.
