Six overseas Filipino workers from Lebanon arrived in the Philippines on Friday.

The repatriated OFWs from Lebanon arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 at 6:00 a.m. via flight EK336 which departed from Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The six OFWs composed the first batch of repatriates from Lebanon amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah militants.

On 21 October, the Philippine government placed Lebanon under Alert Level 3 signifying voluntary repatriation.

According to the data reported by the government, about 17,000 Filipinos live in Lebanon but only hundreds have requested for repatriation.

Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega said that many Filipinos decided to stay in Lebanon due to employment, and some believe that the situation in Beirut is "business as usual".

"We hope more people will respond to the repatriation call and choose to go home," he said.
