Defending PBA Commissioner's Cup champion Barangay Ginebra San Miguel announced that Tony Bishop will be their replacement for Justin Brownlee.
Kings head coach Tim Cone made the announcement in an episode of CNN's Sportsdesk as Brownlee's fate remains uncertain.
"He was just about ready to go to Mexico to be an import, but we caught him just in time and we got him to come on over for us," Cone said.
"He was a guy that we had such a tough time with, such a tough time defending because was so versatile, so level-headed."
Bishop played in the 2022 Governors' Cup with the Bolts where he won the Best Import of the Conference award.
Unfortunately, he and Meralco lost 2-4 to Ginebra in their best-of-seven final series.
He also had prior stints with the Taichung Suns under former Rain or Shine mentor Chris Gavina and in Puerto Rico with the Atléticos de San Germán.
"We were fortunate because he was just ready to go to Mexico as an import and we caught him just in time. I think he's arriving tomorrow morning or afternoon and we'll get to practice on Monday," Cone said.
