The municipality of Plaridel, Bulacan has teamed up with tech company ASM Global and Green Antz Builders Inc., a local recycling company, to implement a digital waste management system in local schools and day-care centers. The collaboration seeks to establish a digital infrastructure for waste management that would help address environmental challenges, promote sustainability and foster responsible waste practices especially among young people in the area.

Schools and day-care centers will use the app built by ASM to educate children on waste segregation, encouraging them to segregate waste at home and school.

The segregated waste will be deposited in QR-coded bins within the school premises. The schools then send an in-app pick-up request to Green Antz Builders Inc. to collect the waste.

Green Antz Builders converts the waste into construction materials and fuel.

The entire material traceability, from collection to recycling, is maintained through the ASM track and trace platform. The app provides schools with a dashboard to monitor their contributions, run campaigns, organize competitions and reward responsible waste practices.

This digital collection system empowers educational institutions to promote recycling, sustainability and the circular economy among young learners, thus nurturing environmentally conscious young citizens.

The parties will also develop a comprehensive waste management solution addressing the challenges faced by the municipality, including the creation of a digital platform, physical infrastructure for waste collection and recycling, and initiatives to raise public awareness and encourage participation in sustainable waste management practices.

ASM Global offers a Plastic Credit Management platform that simplifies the generation of transparent EPR (extended producer responsibility) credits for waste diverters. This digital solution ensures compliance with RA 11898 regulations and makes it easy for all stakeholders to join the National EPR Program, supporting their sustainability efforts.
