The Rotary Club of Makati has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to fostering economic and community development by announcing the sponsorship of ten promising scholars at the Dualtech Training Center.
This laudable initiative seeks to empower young individuals and equip them with the skills and knowledge they need for a bright and more promising future.
The announcement was made during a visit by a Rotary Club of Makati delegation to the Dualtech campus last Thursday, 5 October 2023.
Said delegation led by Rotary Club of Makati president Bing Matoto, along with past president Bimbo Mills, Directors Rodrigo Segura and Neil Makasiar with spouse Camille, as well as Rotarian Paolo Turno, had the privilege of meeting the 10 scholars whose educational journey they will be supporting.
Life-changing opportunity
The ten scholars hail from various parts of the Philippines, representing the diversity and potential that the country has to offer. Some of them come from distant places like Bohol and Tacloban. Their faces lit up with gratitude at the life-changing opportunity they were given by the Rotary Club of Makati.
The sponsorships will enable these young scholars to embark on a rigorous 24-month Electromechanics course at Dualtech.
The comprehensive program is divided into two phases, with the first six months to focus on establishing a robust theoretical foundation while imparting practical skills essential for their future careers.
Subsequently, the remaining 18 months will involve real work experiences with partner companies that could very well culminate in job offers.
Holistic approach
This holistic approach goes beyond mere employment; it instills self-sufficiency and economic empowerment among graduates, ensuring their long-term success.
Highlight of the visit to Dualtech by the Rotary Club of Makati delegation last Thursday was the signing of a memorandum of agreement between the Club and Dualtech, cementing their shared commitment to supporting the scholars on their educational journey.
Dualtech president and executive director Mr. Jerry Webb and Rommel Tejada, manager for Sponsorships and Alumni Relations, were present to formalize the crucial partnership.
Dualtech Training Center Foundation, Inc. stands as a beacon of educational innovation, having been established in 1982 as a pioneer in adopting the German Dual Training System in the Philippines.
The institution annually trains over a thousand scholars from underprivileged backgrounds and collaborates with over a hundred companies to provide them with essential skills and eventual employment opportunities.
Profound impact
The Rotary Club of Makati's sponsorship of these 10 scholars at Dualtech serves as a compelling example of the profound impact that can be achieved through collaboration between civic organizations and educational institutions.
It is a testament to Rotary's unwavering dedication to its Areas of Focus and its mission to drive lasting, positive change in communities across the globe.
This partnership not only empowers the youth but also propels them toward a future filled with promise and potential.
