Security officers of Skyway Operation and Maintenance Corporation have arrested a 42-year-old man in the act of stealing a bare copper cable wire on Friday early dawn at Skyway Stage 3, Quirino exit near the corner of Pedro Gil Street in San Andres Bukid, Manila.
His two companions managed to escape.
Presently detained at the Manila Police District PS-8, the suspect identified was identified as Aurelio Palustra of Brgy. 800, San Andres Bukid, Manila.
Seized from the suspect were 14 meters of bare copper wire with an estimated value of P23,520, a hammer, and a chisel which he used as a tool for stealing cable wires.
According to security guards Rexenor Dagui and Aureleus Leonardo Cagande, they saw the suspect at 3:39 a.m. and his two companions while in the act of stealing. The security guards tried to arrest the suspects but the two managed to escape.
The police are set to file charges for violation of Article 308 of the Revised Penal Code against the suspect before the Manila City Prosecutors Office.
