2 ‘motornappers’ with illegal explosives and firearms nabbed


Two 'motornappers' from Cavite were arrested by Quezon City Police District operatives who coincidentally were in Almanza, Las Piñas, late afternoon Wednesday.
P/Lt.Col. Romil Avenido, Station Commander of La Loma Police Station (PS 1), identified the suspects as Marlon Asi, 29 years old and a resident of Block 16 Lot 43, Lagerfeld St., Molino Homes-1, Molino III, Bacoor City, Cavite and Jaybert Juance, 29 years old and a resident of No. 33 Kaunlaran St., Brgy. Muzon, Malabon City.
Avenido said the duo were nabbed in Las Piñas after stealing a motorcycle from Rohilsan Bansalao who parked and locked his motorcycle at Araneta Avenue, Brgy. Sto. Domingo, Quezon City near the Land Transportation Office, to have a meal at a nearby food stall.
When he returned at 3:pm, he saw that his motorcycle was being taken and then driven away by Asi together with Juance and fled towards an undisclosed destination.
Bansalao immediately reported the incident to nearby PS 1 which immediately flashed an alarm over the stolen and the description of the stolen for all operatives of PS 1 to conduct follow-up operations.
Coincidentally at Almanza, Las Piñas a mobile patrol from PS-1 who were on their way back spotted the stolen motorcycle leading to the arrest of the the two suspects at around 5:pm.
When frisked Juance, yielded a caliber 9mm Astra Guernica Spain A-75 loaded with five live ammunition; one (1) hand grenade, and one improvised pick lock, while Asi, has caliber .38, loaded with six bullets.
Also recovered from them were Bansalao's black Suzuki Raider FU150C03 motorcycle, model 2022 with plate No. 450QBT; and a matte green motorcycle Yamaha NMAX 155 ABS model 2023 bearing with attached MV file No. 0332-0151313.
The suspects were charged with violation of R.A. 10883 or the Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016; R.A. 11235 or the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act; and R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Additional charges for violation R.A. 9516 or the Illegal Possession of Explosives will be filed against suspect Juance before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.
