Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said early Friday morning that the resignation of Department of Finance (DOF) Undersecretary Cielo Magno was "expected" as she had been "against the policies of this administration."
In a statement, Bersamin said Magno made her views known to the public on social media "long before the President even assumed office."
Bersamin said that Magno had also "constantly" raised her concerns through public fora, instead of working together with her colleagues in the government to address them.
"While we support anyone's right to free speech, it would be counterintuitive to have someone be part of the administration who was clearly set on maligning it to begin with," Bersamin said.
He wished Magno "all the best in her future endeavors moving forward."
Magno confirmed her resignation on Thursday due to her divisive economic policies.
In a separate statement, Magno said that she would be a professor at the University of the Philippines School of Economics following her employment with the DOF.
Sources told DAILY TRIBUNE on the condition of anonymity that Malacañang was "monitoring" Magno's Facebook account since 1 September.
For context, Magno posted a cryptic post that included a demand and supply graph along with the statement "I miss teaching."
The post has been made public as of 7 September.

The rice price limit was implemented on 5 September. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. justified this action as essential due to the detection of a sudden increase in prices.
