Janella Salvador is mourning the passing of her cat Fluffy, a white Persian cat who had been with her for 18 years.
In a series of Instagram posts on 5 September, the Filipina actress penned a heartfelt letter to her cat.
"Pets deserve to live longer lives. But 18 years is something… so thank you for choosing us to spend your precious life with," Salvador wrote.
The first post shows young Salvador cradling Fluffy with a huge smile on her face.
"Little Jea was over the moon when she got her dream white fluffy persian cat (hence the name). I was always so excited to show you off to visitors and you gladly welcomed them every single time. In fact, you loved the attention. You would come up to us, sit right beside us, reach out for us with a paw and stare for hours until someone would finally give in and snuggle with you," Salvador added.
The photo series also showed Fluffy with Twinkie — Salvador's other cat who passed away in January after 17 years — and Fluffy's funeral.
"You were the yin to Twinkie's yang… whom you're now reunited with in paradise. Run free and save some spots for us up there, my Fluffywuffwuff. We will miss you forever," the heartwarming post concluded.
The post garnered thousands of likes, with some of Salvador's celebrity friends also commenting to express their condolences, among them her Darna co-star Jane De Leon, PBB alumna Maymay Entrata and actress Sue Ramirez.
Grief over a pet is no longer a stranger to the The Killer Bride star as she also memorialized the loss of her pet cat Twinkie on Instagram in January.
"The hardest part about loving animals is knowing that you're bound to outlive them," Salvador wrote as she recalled how she got Twinkie as an early eighth birthday gift from her mother. "He was the perfect cuddly gentle cat anyone could ever dream of. Thank you for sharing 17 years of your life with us, Twinkie. You have a spot in my heart forever."
And in July 2022, Salvador also mourned the loss of her pet dog, whom she called her "partner in life."
"I will always hold on to the fact that you were the only pup I wanted from the litter and you were also the first one to run to me. You chose me and I chose you. Thank you for sharing your life with me. 'til we meet again… The house will never be the same without your big fluffy body and barks," she wrote.
