A new chapter in the Star Wars animated universe is on the way, as Lucasfilm teams up once again with Production I.G for an expanded anime project titled Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, set to stream exclusively on Disney+ Philippines beginning 5 August.
The upcoming eight-episode limited series was officially highlighted during Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles, where director Shunsuke Tada, supervising director Kenji Kamiyama, and producer Hitoshi Ito unveiled its first trailer and promotional artwork to fans attending a special panel at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Positioned under the newly introduced “Visions Presents” label — designed for longer-form storytelling within the Star Wars: Visions universe — the series continues the narrative threads established in the earlier shorts The Ninth Jedi and The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope. It follows Lah Kara as she deepens her Jedi training under Margrave Juro while embarking on a dangerous journey that blends destiny, growth, and a mission to reunite with her father.
The English-language cast features a mix of returning and new voices, including Kimiko Glenn as Lah Kara, Andrew Kishino as Juro, Masi Oka as Ethan, Patrick Seitz as Homen, JP Karliak as Gramps, Simu Liu as Lah Zhima, and Neil Kaplan as The Narrator. New additions include Feodor Chin, Young Mazino, Chase Sui Wonders, and Keone Young in key roles. The Japanese cast also returns with Chinatsu Akasaki, Tetsuo Kanao, Hiromu Mineta, Hinata Tadokoro, Cho, Shinichiro Miki, and Akio Otsuka reprising their characters.
