Rianne Malixi survived another roller-coaster round to shoot one-over-par 73 in the third round of the Mizuho Americas Open at the Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey on Saturday.
With the 35 points added under the Stableford format, the 16-year-old Filipina improved to 100 points and 13th spot, 10 points off co-leaders Yana Wilson and Anna Davis.
Malixi started well with a birdie on 3 before stumbling with back-to-back bogeys from 6. She birdied 8 but closed the first nine with a double bogey.
Going home, she birdied 10 and 11 and dropped a shot on 13. She gained a shot on 15 before signing a closing bogey.
Malixi and the rest of the American Junior Golf Association were paired with LPGA mainstays, but used different tee mounds.
LPGA players play from longer tees.
Kim In-kyung and Luci Li, who played with Malixi, shot identical 74s.
In the final round, Malixi will tee off alongside Swede Anna Nordqvist and Aussie Grace Kim.
Wilson and Davis carded 31 and 43 points, respectively to lead with 110, four points ahead of Kiara Romero and Sara Im.
