ECHO survived a reverse sweep scare to knockout Malaysia's Team HAQ, 3-2, and advance to the upper bracket semifinals of the M4 Mobile Legends world championship Saturday evening.
Composed of YAWI, KarlTzy, Sanford, Sanji, and Bennyqt, the MPL PH Season 10 runner-up won the first couple of games only to see their counterparts take the next two and threaten a reverse sweep.
ECHO picked Yve, Kaja, Fredrinn, and Yu Zhong in the deciding game.
Unlike the first four matches, ECHO took the early lead in gold, kills, and turrets destroyed to overwhelm the Malaysians. Sanji's Yve was also on point with his rotations and hero kills, scoring a 5/1/4 KDA en route to ending the series in 11 minutes. He was also named the Game 5 MVP.
"I am so happy. I got lucky. My teammates always tell me not to be nervous, not play safe and always be aggressive," Sanji said after the match.
ECHO is slated to face ONIC Esports next on January 12.
