Sen. Bong Go personally checked on the situation of fire victims in Malabon City on Tuesday, 27 December as he urged Filipinos to help those in crisis through continued bayanihan efforts amid various challenges facing the country.
The senator, together with his team, provided aid and other forms of support to the fire victims.
He also urged the public to be more vigilant against disasters and urged local government units to intensify the fire prevention efforts in their respective communities.
"Alam ko mahirap masunugan, napakalungkot masunugan. Nakikiramay po ako sa namatayan. Nalulungkot po ako tuwing mayroong namamatayan," said Go to the victims.
"Magtulungan lang tayo. (Ang gamit), nabibili natin 'yan. Ang pera po'y kikitain natin 'yan, magsipag lang po tayo. Ngunit ang perang kikitain natin ay hindi po nabibili ang buhay. A lost life is a lost life forever. Walang part two po sa buhay. Kaya pangalagaan po natin ang buhay at kalusugan ng bawat isa. Magtulungan po tayo. Tulungan po natin ang ating kapwa," he urged.
During the visit held at the Maysilo Elementary School, Go and his team provided grocery packs, vitamins, masks, snacks and shirts to 89 families affected by separate fire incidents in Barangays Longos, Maysilo and Catmon. They also gave select residents phablets, shoes, bicycles, and balls for volleyball and basketball.
In addition, the Department of Social Welfare and Development provided financial aid to the affected residents.
On the same day, Go also personally aided 212 families affected by a fire incident in Parañaque City.
