Sen. Bong Go, on Monday, 20 December, personally delivered assistance to livestock growers from indigenous communities and micro-entrepreneurs in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro.
During his visit, Go vowed to push for more initiatives to help boost the livelihood of poor communities, especially in rural areas as he remains committed to assist in their recovery amid various economic challenges and the pandemic.
"Ulitin ko lang po, bukas po ang aking opisina at tutulong po ako sa abot ng aking makakaya lalung lalo na po kung ano 'yung makakatulong dito sa probinsya ng Occidental Mindoro," he reassured.
Go, together with local officials, went to Yapang Multipurpose Hall where his team handed out vitamins, shirts, masks and snacks to a total of 356 beneficiaries composed of micro entrepreneurs and livestock growers. They also provided select individuals with new shoes, cellular phones, and balls for basketball and volleyball.
Through Go's initiative and with the help of the provincial and municipal government units and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, they also extended livelihood assistance grants to boost economic activities in their communities.
Among these, 200 livestock growers were given grants for the purchase of cows to boost their agriculture-related livelihood activities while 156 others were given livelihood assistance to start their own micro-enterprises.
Go also spearheaded another relief activity in the town for 500 other indigents whose livelihoods were adversely affected by the global pandemic.
