The local government of Malabon recently signed an agreement with the Development Bank of the Philippines and Universal Storefront Services Corporation — an electronic money issuer regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas — for the implementation of the Malabon Ahon Blue Card.
The card is expected to increase transparency and efficiency in the current administration with the utilization of an electronic financial system to distribute social programs and services.
The 100 percent cashless transaction will not only prevent theft but will also improve the speed and efficiency by which the families in Malabon will be able to receive their local government's social services.
"My administration will continue to work on initiatives that will make processes more efficient and improve the way we serve the residents of Malabon," Sandoval said.
Every household in Malabon will be entitled to receive the Malabon Ahon Blue Card.
Apart from enabling registered residents to easily receive financial support, the Malabon Ahon Blue Card will also enable individuals and families to easily claim their ayuda from accredited merchants.
