It's always nice to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city — a quick getaway to recharge from a writer's hectic schedule.
Nestled in the outskirts of Metro Tagaytay is Anya Resort, a 7.2-hectare property with lush, greenery and warm hospitality that make guests feel it's an extension of their home.
At 4 hectares of land, it houses 78 suites with more underway. Reasons for going? Samira by Chef Chele, Anila Restaurant, and Niyama Wellness Center.
Samira by chef Chele is on a level of its own. Anya Resort Tagaytay general manager Mikel Arriet told Daily Tribune they had Chele on board to create a signature restaurant.
His touch was evident in a six-course menu. It started with four bite-sized yet decadent palate-teasers: Foie Gras and Mango Waffle, Bacalao Fritters, Jamon Iberico Takoyaki, and Bulalo Tacos.
Beef Tartare with Mustard Ice Cream was followed by the fresh and savory plate of Grilled Octopus with Alioli. The Orange Salmon was surprisingly delicious despite my aversion to savory food mixed with citrus fruits.
My personal favorite was the Black Squid Risotto and Grilled US Angus Beef Tenderloin that was cooked to my liking; and, the perfect topper, the Tagaytay Pineapple Expressions.
Robee Joy Javier, sous chef at Samira, treated us to a delightful, melt-in-your-mouth cold cuts and a Banana Cashew Pie with Coffee Ice Cream on the side.
We were full at the end of the meal. Each bite was heavenly, an adventure of the palate.
We were prepped for that gastronomic adventure with an hour at Niyama Wellness Center where we chose the Niyama Signature Massage, Anya's version of the traditional hilot with a twist where they use bamboo to relax and rejuvenate the muscles.
It was a holistic experience not just physically but mentally.
We ended the day soaking in the bathtub, enjoying the complimentary charcuterie board.
The next day, we indulged at the Anila Restaurant where they served the quintessential breakfast buffet. On my plate was bacon, meatballs, chapchae, corned beef, and a Spanish bread. On the side was taho and a cup of joe.
It was an uneventful yet scenic morning as Anila is situated beside Anya's heated pool and spacious greenscape. After which, we roamed the area, a must-need mental break and a great end to our very relaxing stay.
Anya Resort Tagaytay is at Buenavista Hills Road, Barangay Tolentino West, Tagaytay. For more information, visit www.anyaresorts.com.
