Sen. Bong Go provided aid to fire and flood victims in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental on Monday, 12 December, as part of his commitment to assist distressed communities across the country.
In his video message, Go appealed for continued bayanihan efforts toward a full and inclusive pandemic recovery.
To ensure better fire prevention efforts from the government, Go has earlier principally authored and co-sponsored Republic Act No. 11589 or the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act.
Under said law, the BFP is undergoing a ten-year modernization program, which includes acquiring new modern fire equipment, hiring additional personnel, and providing specialized training for firefighters, among others.
Held at the Barangay Nazareth Gymnasium, the senator's team provided masks, shirts, vitamins, grocery packs, umbrellas, snacks, and balls for volleyball and basketball to 90 flood victims and 11 families affected by a fire incident.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development then extended financial assistance to ensure that the beneficiaries would be able to sustain their needs while they recover.
Go's team provided similar assistance to more fire and flood victims in Cagayan de Oro City last November 24.
