Sen. Bong Go, on Monday, 12 December, congratulated Filipina figure skater Sofia Frank for winning the gold in the Asian Open Figure Skating Championship held in Jakarta, Indonesia from 7 to 9 December.
"Ms. Frank's talent and dedication to her craft are truly inspiring, and it was an absolute pleasure to watch her skate," said Go during his co-sponsorship speech on a Senate resolution congratulating and commending Frank.
"Her graceful movements, impressive jumps, and captivating spins were a joy to behold, and she truly embodied the beauty and artistry of figure skating," he added.
Frank came out on top in the senior women's category with a combined score of 143.97 points from the short program and the free skate, besting a total of eight other competitors.
Ting Tzu-Han of Chinese Taipei and Joanna So of Hong Kong came in second and third place, respectively, in the category. Meanwhile, another Filipino figure skater Skye Chua came in seventh place overall.
Go said that Frank has brought an incredible amount of pride to all Filipinos with her victory.
"She has shown the world that we are a nation of talented and dedicated athletes, and her success will inspire many other Filipinos to pursue their dreams and achieve greatness," he said.
