State troops swoop in Daulah Islamiyah lair
Galido said a law enforcement operation was launched by troopers of the Army’s 1st Marine Brigade stationed in the area

ZAMBOANGA CITY — Soldiers from the Joint Task Force Central raided a camp believed to be of the Daulah Islamiyah-Maute Group and seized various types of war materials inside the newly established camp in Lanao del Sur.
JTF-C Commander Maj. Gen. Roy Galido stressed that due to the strong support of the community and intense intelligence efforts of the government security forces, soldiers of JTF-C besieged the newly established camp of the DI- Maute Group in Bagumbayan, Marogong, Lanao del Sur on Saturday.
"About 30 followers of Abu Zacharia, the DI-MG leader, were spotted by residents in the nearby area. Because their appearance is new, the community immediately reported them to the soldiers of the 1st Marine Brigade," Galido said.
"The villagers noticed new faces in their village and alerted the troopers of Philippine Marines," he added, saying that residents sighted about 30 to 40 men, suspected to be remnants of the DI-MG terror group that seized Marawi City in 2017.
Recovered from the terrorists' camp were three units of UHF Handheld Radio (Baofeng), two pieces of radio batteries, one uniform, one lower receiver of an M14 Rifle, one kevlar helmet, two 81MM mortar fuse, one barrel of M60 Light Machine Gun, one cellphone, one combat boots, one pack of wire, two kilograms of fertilizer, gun powder, one manual for making explosives, one sack of 81MM Fuse (25kls), one "tornohan," one dynamo, two improvised RPG launchers, one empty magazine (7.62mm) and one prayer booklet.
Due to the intensified Focused Military Operations of the JTF-C in the area soldiers also recovered war materials of DI- Maute Group which consist of anti-personnel mines and personal equipment of the terrorists.
"We appreciated the cooperation of local government units and their community leaders to government forces for providing the military with intelligence information," Galido said. "Security is everybody's business, no single person is responsible for the security, we have to unite and work together."
