BRUSSELS — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday evening skipped his supposed press conference with reporters covering his trip here.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez said the President is currently recovering from a cold and experiencing hoarseness, which they believed caused by the quick drop to cold temperatures.
"He's got a cold. Napaos lang yata siya," Romualdez said when asked about the reason for the President's absence to the press conference.
Temperature in Brussels ranged from -1 to -4 during the day.
Noticeably, the President started to have a runny nose on his first day in Brussels.
It worsened the next day where he had to deliver his closing keynote for the 10th ASEAN-EU Business Summit before Heads of State/Government from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and European Union (EU) at the Sofitel Brussels Europe.
Here, the President apologized for having a hoarse voice, saying, "The winter is not suitable for Filipinos."
Despite his apparent sickness and struggle, Marcos was able to deliver his eight-minute speech.
