Presidential Management Staff Secretary Zenaida Angping "has asked to take some personal time for herself and her family," Malacañang announced on Friday.
Press Undersecretary Cheloy Garafil said President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has allowed Angping to take her time off.
It is unclear, however, whether Angping has taken a leave of absence or has tendered her resignation.
Garafil made the statement amid rumors that Angping, a former lawmaker, has resigned from her post due to still undisclosed reasons.
Angping's husband, former Manila congressman Harry Angping, was recently tagged in a sexual harassment controversy in Thailand before the President arrived there for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit.
Unconfirmed reports alleged that Angping was apprehended by authorities after he supposedly displayed unwanted sexual behavior toward a hotel staff member at the Marriott Marquis Queens Hotel in Bangkok, where Marcos and his delegation stayed from 16 to 19 November.
Neither the PMS chief nor the Office of the Press Secretary confirmed these reports, however.
