Performance is the "best way to earn the trust" of the public, President Bongbong Marcos on Thursday told his fellow Asia Pacific region leaders at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Bangkok, Thailand.

In the Summit, Marcos was asked by the moderator about what a President from the Asia Pacific region like him think is the best way to efficiently rebuild trust amid the rise in economic uncertainty.

"In the political context, the way to earn trust is to perform," Marcos said during the forum held at the Athenee Hotel.

His response quickly elicited applause from the spectators. Among there were former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

"I always say the best politics is performance because it's something that cannot be taken away from you and it is something that actually makes a difference in people's lives," Marcos said.

"Perform and you will get back the trust of the people and that is what we all politicians [do] and I'm sure even people from the business side… that is what we strive for," he added.

On the second day of his visit to Thailand, the President attended the APEC CEO Summit, where he called on the member economies to adhere to its vision as he highlighted the regional bloc's role as the "driving force" of the global economy.
