President Bongbong Marcos has directed concerned government agencies to continue supporting the most vulnerable sectors in the form of distribution of cash transfers and fuel discounts to help cushion the impact of rising inflation, Malacañang said on Friday.

Office of the Press Secretary officer-in-charge and undersecretary Cheloy Garafil said this will be part of the government's key response to the rising inflation rate.

OPS made the statement after the Philippine Statistics Authority reported that inflation accelerated to 7.7 percent in October, from 6.9 percent in September.

The latest inflation number is the highest in almost 14 years since the global financial crisis in 2008.
