Sen. Bong Go visited Mandaue City, Cebu on Thursday, 20 October, and personally handed out relief to flood victims.
In his speech, Go renewed his call for the enactment of his proposed measure that will mandate the creation of the Department of Disaster Resilience to ensure that communities are adaptive, disaster-resilient, and safe.
Senate Bill No. 188 aims to provide a faster and more holistic response to calamities, especially as the country is prone to typhoons and other disasters.
"Matagal ko na pong isinusulong yung Department of Disaster Resilience, a cabinet secretary department. Isang departamento nakatutok talaga, yan po ang Department of Disaster Resilience," explained Go during an ambush interview after the relief operation.
Go and his outreach team held the relief activity at Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex where they gave away grocery packs, meals, vitamins, masks, and shirts to 919 typhoon victims. Meanwhile, the senator likewise provided phablets and shoes to select individuals.
