Sen. Bong Go assured poor and vulnerable Filipinos that he will continue urging the government to provide necessary aid and support for disadvantaged sectors to recover from the pandemic as he sent assistance to indigents in Masantol, Pampanga.
The senator's team distributed snacks and masks to a total of 201 indigent residents on Thursday, October 6. The activity was carried out in batches at the Masantol Plaza in compliance with the health protocols.
Select individuals also received new pairs of shoes or bicycles for their daily commute while others were given electronic gadgets to help their children with their school activities.
In addition, representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development handed out livelihood assistance grants as part of the continuing efforts of the government to assist low-income communities on the frontlines of the pandemic.
In his message, Go emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation across the government to address the various needs and concerns of more Filipinos in crisis.
"Mahirap ang sitwasyon ngayon. Nasa krisis tayo dulot ng COVID-19 at marami ang nawalan ng trabaho. Marami ring nagsara na negosyo at overseas Filipino workers ang umuwi," Go pointed out.
"Ang bawat isa na ito ay mayroong pamilyang binubuhay. Kaya dapat mas paigtingin pa natin ang ating pagseserbisyo lalo na ngayong panahong nangangailangan ang mga Pilipino. Hindi pwede ang papatay-patay… Magtulungan tayo at 'wag patulugin ang ating trabaho," he appealed.
Go has likewise helped improve the delivery of key public services in the province. He supported the funding of new equipment for hospitals in San Fernando City and the towns of Arayat, Bacolor, Floridablanca, Guagua, Lubao, Mabalacat, Porac and San Luis; and construction of multipurpose buildings in Arayat, Floridablanca, Santa Monica, Magalang and Masantol, among others.
