Sen. Bong Go continues to aid more disadvantaged communities nationwide as he sent his team to San Jose and Tarlac City to hold a two-day distribution activity for 683 residents on 29 and 30 September.
In his video message, Go, who serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, reminded the public to continue looking out for their health and well-being. He then reached out to those with medical concerns and encouraged them to visit the Malasakit Center at Tarlac Provincial Hospital in the city where they may seek medical assistance from the government.
Signed into law in 2019, the Malasakit Centers Act aims to provide poor and indigent patients convenient access to medical assistance programs offered by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
"Ang target po ng Malasakit Center ay maging zero balance po ang inyong billing. Kaya huwag po kayong mahihiyang lumapit sa Malasakit Center dahil para po yan sa inyo, mga kababayan kong Pilipino. At ngayon po, meron na po tayong 152 na Malasakit Centers sa buong Pilipinas na handang tumulong po sa inyo," explained Go, who is the principal author and sponsor of the said Act.
"Mga kababayan ko, nais ko rin po kayong hikayatin na magpabakuna na po kayo. Kung hindi pa po kayo bakunado at eligible naman po kayo, magpabakuna na po kayo dahil ito ang ating susi sa ngayon upang makabalik sa normal na pamumuhay," he added.
Held at Barangay San Sebastian Covered Court in Tarlac City and Brgy. Lawacmulag in San Jose, Go's team handed out snacks, masks and shirts to the residents, and gave away shoes, bicycles, cellular phones, and balls for basketball and volleyball to select individuals.
Representatives from DSWD also provided each resident with financial assistance.
