A partylist lawmaker on Wednesday has called on the leadership of the House of Representatives to provide a measure that will fund the ongoing Vigan Airport Development Project.
Ako Ilocano Ako Partylist Representative Richelle Singson stressed that the P340 million project must be funded or it may lead to a waste of government funds.
In a letter sent to House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Singson said that the House should also urge the Department of Transportation to seek their support for the funding of the Vigan Airport project.
She stressed that the airport's budgetary allocation was not included in next year's National Expenditure Program of the DoTr.
Based on the estimates of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, the immediate construction of the control tower building, power supply and supply and installation of communications and MET equipment would cost around P120 million while P220 million is needed to widen the airport's runway.
