Monarchy life is in.
Romance among royals from a distant past filled with petticoats, grand balls and an engaging soundtrack make the Netflix series Bridgerton an enduring hit among viewers.
After the announcement of a new third season earlier this year, Netflix released a spinoff series focusing on the Bridgerton monarch.
India Amarteifio stars in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
Fans knew the original series would have an extended run, as it follows the stories of eight Bridgertons: Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth.
But the spinoff will portray the monarch rising to prominence and power in the Regency era — focusing on her marriage to King George.
Golda Rosheuvel will still play as the older version of the queen.
Joining the cast are Adjoa Andoh as Lady Agatha Danbury and Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton.
"We have this wonderful tag team, where we high-five each other and the baton is passed on, which I think is a real beautiful metaphor for the older and the younger… It's really cool, I love it," Rosheuvel said.
In a new teaser video released on 23 September,
Lady Agatha Danbury welcomes the young Charlotte: "There is something so particular and fabulous about your whiplash, heartfelt, witty, sharp Queen Charlotte."
Said Andoh: "India has absolutely grabbed all of that and made it her own. When I look at India, I see Golda. I see young Charlotte become older Charlotte and it's a beautiful thing."
