The world continues to grieve over the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the second longest monarch to reign.
Apart from flower offerings her constituents have been leaving for her outside Balmoral Castle and the Buckingham Palace, dignitaries and celebrities from the United Kingdom and beyond paid their respects to the late queen through kind words.
Janet Jackson shared a photo on Instagram of her shaking hands with Queen Elizabeth with the caption, "May you rest in peace, Queen."
English actor Dame Helen Mirren also made a tribute post to the queen, saying, "I am proud to be an Elizabethan. We mourn a woman, who, with or without the crown was the epitome of nobility." Mirren portrayed Queen Elizabeth in the 2006 film The Queen.
Elton John penned a sweet note to her majesty. It reads: "Along with the rest of the nation, I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's passing. She was an inspiring presence to be around and led the country through some of our greatest and darkest moments with grace, decency, and a genuine caring warmth.
"Queen Elizabeth has been a huge part of my life from childhood to this day, and I will miss her dearly."
The specific date of Her Majesty's funeral has yet to be disclosed but now King Charles III wishes to observe royal mourning until seven days after her death on 8 September.
