Yogurt drinks are everyone's next craving after milk teas. This fad has given rise to various brands that carry yogurt, from drinks with sinkers to froyo (frozen yogurt) paired with various toppings and sauces.
Among the big players is Australia's "guiltless goodness" brand Koomi, which now has 100 stores nationwide, the 100th store found at SM Mall of Asia Square.
The brand's newest ambassador, or "koomikada," is young actor Joshua Garcia, whose favorite among the Koomi drinks is the Will Ube Mine.
"He is a young, fun, chill guy who likes to stay fit and active, but has the need to indulge during his downtime and prefers healthy food choices," explained Visum Ventures CEO Mike Hilton.
Hilton said it was curiosity that led him to open Koomi stores locally.
When he saw a long queue outside a shop in Sydney, he needed to know what the fuss was all about. It took just one sip for him to decide to bring Koomi to Philippine soil.
"Before we launched Koomi, we worked on the flavors that would best suit the Filipino palate, and made sure it had just the right amount of tartness without being too sour," said Hilton. "The original blend is the Aussie flavor. We tweaked it a bit for those who prefer their drinks to be on the sweeter side."
Koomi drinks have health benefits, too, said Hilton.
"You get to indulge without the guilt, and enjoy your favorite fruits and fun add-ons with our natural drinking yogurt that contains probiotics good for your gut. We believe the pandemic has taught us to value our health and be more conscious of what we eat, be more aware of enjoying food that's equally good for us."
Visum Ventures Group "will continue to provide fresh concepts to show that healthy need not be bland," added Hilton.
