Adamson University and University of the Philippines have confirmed their participation in the upcoming Shakey's Super League collegiate preseason tournament.
Athletics Events and Sports chairperson Philip Ella Juico confirmed the development to Daily Tribune.
The first conference of the SSL, which will be a collegiate preseason competition, will run from 22 September to 28 November.
All 10 schools from the National Collegiate Athletic Association and six schools from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines have already committed to join the fledgling tournament.
But with the inclusion of the Lady Falcons and the Lady Maroons, volleyball fans can expect all teams from the two top collegiate leagues to duke it out before their respective leagues begin.
"Yes, both teams (Adamson and UP) will be joining," said Juico, also the chief executive officer of ACES.
"I'm very happy because this competition is for them. It's really meant to strengthen the ranks in the amateur leagues, especially the collegiate student-athletes."
Adamson and UP can use this tournament to their advantage after hiring new coaches during the offseason.
The Lady Falcons hired NCAA champion coach Jerry Yee last July while Lady Maroons tapped Shaq de los Santos last Tuesday.
