A lady public school teacher and her three companions were collared during a drug buy-bust operation in Maguindanao, an official of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM) yesterday said.
Juvenal Azurin, PDEA-ARMM director, identified the suspect as Salama Diwa Talib, a teacher of Datu Unsay Elementary School in Maguindanao.
Also arrested were Talib’s cohorts identified as Saiden Yusa, Mahmod Dimudtang and Nasser Pasawilan, all of legal age.
Seized from the suspects were a big plastic packet of suspected crystal meth or “shabu” weighing 50 grams with a street value of P340,000 and 19 other sachets of the prohibited substance worth P6,460,000.
Also confiscated were the suspects’ mobile phones allegedly used in the transaction.
Azurin, who led the operation himself, said they are still trying to determine if the suspects belong to a big-time syndicate operating in Maguindanao.
The suspects are currently detained at the PDEA-ARMM lockup cell. They are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
