Police probe possible brake failure on downhill curve
A truck carrying plastic crates lies overturned beside Gumaca Bypass Road in Barangay Villa Arcaya, Gumaca, Quezon, after a crash that killed its driver and a helper and injured another helper.
Two people were killed and another was injured when a truck carrying plastic crates overturned and fell off the roadside along Gumaca Bypass Road in Barangay Villa Arcaya, Gumaca, Quezon, on Thursday morning, police said.
According to the Gumaca Municipal Police Station, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a downhill curve at around 6:30 a.m.
The fatalities were the driver, who was pinned against the steering wheel, and a truck helper who sustained severe injuries. Another helper was rescued with minor injuries.
Police Major Marlon Comia, chief of the Gumaca Municipal Police Station, said investigators were looking into the cause of the crash, including possible brake failure.
